The Private Studio Session

Some things are better shared.

The Private Studio Session is Soma's most immersive workshop — three hours in the studio with your people, your hands in clay.

Designed for groups of 6–14, this is the session you book when you want more than a workshop. More time, more making, more of whatever you came for.

If your group has something specific in mind — a wavy platter, a particular form, a technique you've been curious about — we can talk through that before the day and tailor the session around it.

A three-hour clay experience, made for your group.

❋ Relaxed Structure

We blend guided moments, open exploration, and space to reflect—so the experience feels both focused and fluid. Nothing is too structured, you have freedom to explore.

❋ Collaborative Energy

Connection is a core part of the process. You’ll learn just as much from the group as from the content itself.

❋ Ceramic Artist Facilitation

Led by an experienced ceramicist who knows how to hold space, encourage participation, and keep things moving with purpose.

❋ What to expect

You'll spend three hours learning to work with clay using the pinch or slab method — making up to 3 pieces to take home.

Some things are better made by hand *

  • None at all. Every session starts from scratch and moves at the group's pace. If you've never touched clay before — perfect, that's exactly who these workshops are for.

  • You'll be guided through the basics of hand building and make two or three pieces across the session. A mug, a bowl, a small dish — whatever feels right. There's no set outcome, just a guided process with room to make it your own.

  • Aprons are provided for everyone. Otherwise, wear something you don't mind getting clay on. It's a working studio — things get messy.

  • All clay, tools, glazing and firing are included. Just show up.

  • Usually three to four weeks after your session, once glazing and firing is complete. You'll receive an email and a text to arrange a collection time from the studio. For those travelling, items can be shipped for an additional fee, just ask!

  • Completely. BYO means whatever you love — sparkling water, kombucha, a good rosé. Nobody's keeping score.

  • Sessions are small by design — intimate, hands on, and more personal than most studios. Numbers are kept deliberately limited so everyone gets proper time and attention.

  • Once a fortnight. We keep them limited intentionally — it's a working studio first, and that's what keeps the experience special. Workshops dates are release in 4 weekly blocks, so keep an eye out or sign up to receive my newsletter for upcoming workshops.

  • Soma Clay is a private studio in Mount Coolum on the Sunshine Coast. Once you've booked you'll receive a confirmation with the full address and everything you need to know before your session.

  • There is street parking available at the studio.
